The Northern Territory Government is currently offering not-for-profit community organisations grants for eligible works, including the installation of roof top solar, via their Immediate Work Grants. The following program overview and eligibility criteria extracts have been taken directly from the Immediate Work Grants website. For more information about the Grants, including full terms and conditions, please click the above link or contact us so we can assist you in your application.
The grants are available to carry out improvements, repairs and maintenance to property located in the Northern Territory that is owned or rented by the not-for-profit community organisation that is applying for the grant.
Grants will be issued for a minimum of $5,000.
Not-for-profit organisations can apply for up to 10 jobs completed to a maximum value of $100,000. The Northern Territory Government will also match any renovation costs that exceed $100,000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to a maximum of $200,000.
The organisation must have owned or rented the property being improved, renovated or repaired prior to the grant program’s announcement on 27 November 2016.
Eligible works are repairs, improvements and maintenance services that are intended to permanently improve the property. Eligible works must be consistent with the program’s intent and objectives, and demonstrate value for money consistent with the organisation’s charitable or other purpose beneficial to the community.
Works that are associated with liquor or gambling are not eligible under the program’s terms and conditions.
This may include the construction of a new shed or another structure, painting the building, re-tiling or landscaping.
For jobs up to $100,000 up to 50% of the value of each grant can go towards goods and materials. For example, if you are painting your building at a cost of $10,000, up to $5,000 of the grant can be used for the paint and other supplies. However, if you wanted to replace all of the appliances and furniture in your building at a cost of $50,000, this job wouldn’t be eligible because there is no labour component.
For jobs worth more than $100,000 up to 75% of the value of each grant can go towards goods and materials.
The cap of the amount of the grant used for materials is aimed at ensuring the greatest boost possible to Territory jobs and employment.
Only not-for-profit or community organisations operating in the Northern Territory can apply.
To be eligible the organisations must have been validly incorporated under Northern Territory or Australian Government legislation on or before 27 November 2016 and all of the following:
Examples of ‘charitable and other purposes beneficial to the community’ may include:
